BaiYu Fisher
BaiYu was born in China with a rare condition called Albinism. This disease leaves her with minimal pigment in her skin, hair and eyes. For BaiYu, who is legally blind, not being able to see is the least of her worries, she says. "I have learned to adapt well enough that no one can really tell I can't see unless I know them well enough". BaiYu has danced for eight years and four years competitively.
BaiYu is currently a self-taught contortionist and is working to advocate for mental health awareness and inspire other young artists to follow their dreams. BaiYu says, "I want people to see for themselves and understand that no matter what life gives you, anything you wish to work for, can come true".
BaiYu grew up in Iowa with her older sister, two older brothers, grandma and her adopted mom. As a child BaiYu was very active and always curious. BaiYu played piano, did acting and did gymnastics.
Later in life, BaiYu began to train in dance at the age of 10 and has continued since. After discovering her talents for aerial arts and contortion BaiYu made it an effort to teach herself with the help of her imagination and YouTube videos.
BaiYu is currently 18-years-old and is studying Advertising at Iowa State University. BaiYu is also currently in the process of some exciting things and is working hard to create more content and merchandise for her followers. To learn more about BaiYu, be sure to follow her on Instagram
